  Parol Making Workshop

  Join us at the Sonoma County Central Library on Sunday, October 26, 2025 for a hands-on afternoon of creativity, culture, and community. This event is part of our AAPIC Connect Cultural Makers Series, which highlights cultural traditions and builds bridges across Asian and Pacific Islander communities.  And presented with support of FANHS - Filipino American National Historical Society Sonoma County. 

  
  

  Make Your Own Parol
  

  Parols are traditional Philippine lanterns displayed during the holidays — bright symbols of light, hope, and togetherness.

  During this workshop, you’ll learn how to make your own handmade parol to take home and display.

  No experience needed — just bring your curiosity and creativity!

  Time: 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM
  Location: Sonoma County Central Library, Public Meeting Room
  211 E Street, Santa Rosa
  Cost: $5 per person (kids 6 and under are free)

  All supplies and tools will be provided, though you’re welcome to bring your own scissors or glue gun if you’d like. Tea and snacks will be provided!

  • Katherine Nguyen, MFT – Marriage and Family Therapist, Santa Rosa

  Together, they’ll share their personal journeys and discuss how culture, identity, and lived experience shape the path to becoming a mental health professional.

  Explore career options in psychology, counseling, and community wellness, and learn how you can make a meaningful impact supporting Asian American and Pacific Islander communities through healing and advocacy.
