Attire
- Attendees are encouraged to show up in their cultural attire.
- For guests without cultural attire, we will have extras and plenty of pins representing AAPI countries. We’ll make the pins for free!
- Clothing swap rack – those who are comfortable with loaning clothes or accessories for the night to others who don’t have any are invited to place them on a designated rack.
Food
- Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish from their culture to share.
Program
- Welcome speech from officers
- Dinner is served!
- AAPI Culture Trivia
- Cultural fashion through the ages
- Performance Showcase – People can perform songs or dances. Performances don’t necessarily have to be. Allocated time may change depending on how many performers we will have.
- Bonding Time – Explore the karaoke station, arts and crafts, display tables, and photobooth
Other Activities
- Poster Board
Upon entry, there will be a big posterboard. Attendees will be required to write on the posterboard and answer the following questions:
– What does your culture mean to you?
– How do you connect with your heritage?
- Display Table
People can bring objects or even framed family photos that respect their culture. These can become part of a display table during the event.
- AAPI Cultural Trivia
Participants will participate in trivia by using Kahoot.
- Karaoke
- Photobooth Station
There will be a photobooth station with polaroid cameras and props so people can take photos.
- Arts and Crafts Corner
There will be a table with origami paper and instructions with how to make origami.
- “Why am I proud to be __________?” Tree
People will answer this question and hang it on the tree.
People must do this before lining up for food!
