2600 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa, CA
This program is brought to us by the Social Action Committee, our friends at Congregation Shomrei Torah. In this talk, we will hear about childhood trauma, becoming victims of violent crime, and eventually atonement and healing. Many of us in our Asian and Pacific Islander community have also faced war and transgenerational trauma that may result in a life of instability, crime, and incarceration. This is a universal theme. We should learn with each other, and hold hands on the road to healing.
The organizer wrote, “In Jewish tradition, there is no such thing as perpetual punishment or permanent exile. As a people, we believe in the power and practice of teshuvah; the ability for each one of us to repent, atone, and return with a ‘clean slate’.”
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear from two incredible women who were impacted by violent crime in their past and their brave journey through shame and healing. Joining them will be four formerly incarcerated men who were convicted and served long sentences for their crimes. You will experience how they were reformed and redeemed, and how both victim and perpetrator can find forgiveness and peace. The narratives exemplify the value and power of compassion and forgiveness in creating true rehabilitation.
The following short video will open your heart and hopefully inspire you to join us: Step Inside the Circle – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVxjuTkWQiE
