It’s Mochitsuki Time!

Potluck Lunch
The public is invited to make mochi the traditional Japanese way.
- Help and learn how to pound and shape mochi.
- Those who bring pre-soaked rice (up to 3 lbs/family) will take home mochi. The rice you bring will be the mochi you take home (see instructions on the JACL website at: https://sonomacountyjacl.org/
- This is an educational, cultural, and more importantly, a participatory community event. Everyone bringing rice to make mochi is asked to stay to help others. 8:00 am – 1:00 pm (or when mochi has been made for everyone).
- We’ll have pastries, coffee, & tea in the morning.
- At noon, we’ll break for lunch, so please bring something to eat. Sorry, we will not be serving lunch. Hint: if you don’t have time to prepare a lunch, you can DoorDash.
