(Note time change from 6:30 pm to 5:00 pm due to change of agenda schedule.)
The City of Petaluma will be presenting a proclamation recognizing May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The proclamation will be awarded to Lina Hoshino representing friends of Petaluma AAPI Community and Grace Cheung-Schulman, co-founder and Vice President of the Asian American Pacific Islander Coalition of North Bay (AAPIC).
The linguistically and culturally diverse members of Asian American and Pacific Islander people made critical contributions in the earlier days of Petaluma city’s formation, yet their history has remained largely hidden.
The City of Petaluma recognizes the contributions of diverse people in the development of the city and the wider region while acknowledging its role and complicity over time in discrimination and harm. This recognition and acknowledgment provide a way to heal and move towards a genuinely inclusive community.
Be there and support the Petaluma AAPI Community!
