July 12 @ 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Bachan's Day 2024

Join Bachan’s Day Party 5th Anniversary Celebration – enjoy the food, give-aways, prizes, and music!

Justin & BachanBachan’s was founded by Japanese American Justin Gill in 2013, and after six years of perfecting the multi-generational family recipe, the Original Japanese Sauce officially launched in 2019. With a mission to Bring Family Together® through food, culture, and connection, Bachan’s believes in a minimalistic and transparent approach to creating simple, authentic sauces inspired by traditional Japanese flavors. Bachan’s family of sauces are cold-filled (not pasteurized) and made with the highest quality ingredients, without the use of preservatives or flavorings, because Our Ingredients Matter®

Named for Justin’s bachan (granny), Judy Yokoyama, a first-generation Japanese American, Bachan’s inspired mission to bring the family together through food, culture, and connection comes from family history and personal experience. Judy has lived in Sebastopol and Santa Rosa her entire life, except for a two-year displacement to Camp Amache, a Japanese internment camp in the Colorado desert. During the time of her family’s incarceration, they were able to maintain a level of normalcy because they were together providing one another with love, support, and connection. Much of this connection was done over family meals and preparing familiar foods—like the family’s sauce.

Last year’s Bachan’s Day

Bachan’s seeks to bring family and friends to the table to enjoy food together, as well as to bring society together as a whole through new cultural flavors, experiences, awareness, and discussions. Bachan’s is dedicated to honoring its family history and bringing awareness to broaden people’s awareness and acceptance. Bachan’s participates in the coalition of business leaders against anti-Asian racism and supports organizations that are raising awareness of racial injustice/discrimination.

Visit their website’s recipe page to see what delicious food you can make at home with Bachan’s.

AAPIC is honored to receive a donation from Bachan’s as part of their celebration for our continuing efforts to highlight the contribution of the Asian and Pacific Islander community in the area.
