Mel Orpilla and FANHS, Vallejo Chapter, will be hosting a FREE tour of Mare Island to learn about the history of Mare Island and the Filipinos employed there.
9:30 am Meet at “The Quarters” Coffee House on Mare Island, 1-15 Walnut Ave, Mare Island/Vallejo, where a talk about the history will be given.
10 am – 12 noon Tour Mare Island – St. Peter’s Chapel, Dry Docks, Moises Way (the only street named for a Filipino in Solano County), Touro University, historic Mare Island Cemetery, FactoryOS, and Sausage & Cooke distillery.
12 – 4 pm Attend the Lei of Aloha Hawaiian Festival at the Mare Island Coal Sheds. This event is also free. On your own for lunch and entertainment.
